Koeman and the Dutch squad were due to travel from their Wolfsburg camp to Dortmund on Tuesday evening ahead of a press conference at Signal Iduna Park. But were informed by Deutsche Bahn, which operates Germany’s rail network. That their trip had been cancelled after a technical problem on another train caused chaos on the route.

‘The Dutch team will not arrive in Dortmund until tonight. With the semi-final against England scheduled for tomorrow evening,’ the KNVB said in a statement.

‘The players and staff were due to travel from Wolfsburg to Dortmund by train this afternoon at around 4pm. The train service has been cancelled due to the road blockade.’

UEFA also released a statement confirming: ‘Due to the disruption of the Netherlands’ trip to Dortmund. Their arrival time has been significantly delayed. Therefore, no press conference will be held.’

For their opponents England, that is no problem. As the Three Lions have been flying from their camp near Blankenhain in central Germany.
